Process

The organizers of the 2012 European Congress on Global Education are the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe, the GENE (Global Education Network Europe) together with the Portuguese NDGO Platform, the Portuguese Aid Agency (IPAD), and the University of Lisbon.

A working group with multi-stakeholder representation has been set up for the preparation, implementation and follow up of the Congress. In addition to the organizers, it includes representatives of:

• The North-South Centre Executive Committee
• The Council of Europe (Democratic Citizenship and Participation)
• The Council of Europe Conference of INGOs
• The European NGDO platform “Concord” and the Developing Europeans' Engagement for the Eradication of Global Poverty (DEEEP) Programme
• The Global Education Network Europe (GENE)
• The European Youth Forum
• Representatives/focal points of three EU member States platforms as a follow-up to the regional seminars conducted by the North-South Centre in 2010-2011.

The work of this group will be complemented by an enlarged consultative group which should contribute to the finalisation of the preparations of the Congress and to the drafting of the Congress Action Plan.
